Sixth & I names first COO
Sixth & I, the premier center for arts, entertainment, ideas, and Jewish life in Washington, DC, is thrilled to welcome Ian Keener as its incoming Chief Operating Officer (COO). Following an extensive national search led by Good Insight, Keener begins his new role on May 15th.
“Ian has the operational skills and vision to ensure Sixth & I exceeds the expectations of the thousands of visitors who enjoy our programs year-round,” said Heather Moran, Sixth & I’s Chief Executive Officer. “As an experienced nonprofit professional, Ian’s track record of success, combined with his passion for Sixth & I’s mission, make him a perfect fit for this role.”
Keener joins Sixth & I in the midst of unprecedented growth and that aims to deepen social justice work and invest in attracting a greater diversity of top-shelf talent to contribute to Sixth & I being an inclusive home for cultural and spiritual life. Keener will be the organization’s first COO.

About Ian Keener
Keener comes to Sixth & I from Bishop Walker School. As a member of the school’s executive team, he advanced the school’s strategic goals and in pursuit of its mission to alter the educational and social trajectories of boys from traditionally underserved communities in and around the District.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Washington DC, Keener has ten years of experience in operations, development, HR and facilities for nonprofits. He lives in Bethesda with his wife and young sons, cherishing the history and cultural diversity of the area.
