Golden Triangle BID names Director, Public Art & Creative Activation

Good Insight is pleased to share that the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) announced Deirdre Ehlen MacWilliams as Director of Public Art & Creative Activation following an extensive national search. MacWilliams begins her new role on October 2, 2023.

In partnership with local businesses and DC government, the BID enriches the Golden Triangle neighborhood in downtown Washington, DC through public space improvements and economic development initiatives. As Director of Public Art & Creative Activation, MacWilliams will lead efforts to enhance the vitality of the neighborhood with public art, performances, and creative partnerships.

“Deirdre’s passion and experience have truly shaped the state of public art in our region,” said Leona Agouridis, Golden Triangle BID’s President and CEO. “We are thrilled to have her expertise focused on our central business district in DC.”

About Deirdre Ehlen MacWilliams

Deirdre Ehlen MacWilliams has collaborated with design professionals, community members, government colleagues, and artists to bring public art to life in Washington, DC, and Arlington, Virginia since 2005.

In her previous role as public art project manager for Arlington’s nationally renowned Public Art program, MacWilliams developed and managed public art projects. She was additionally the curator of Georgetown GLOW from 2014–2021, co-curator for What’s Going on Voices of Shaw in 2016, and a project manager for Finding a Line at the Kennedy Center in 2015. She has served as the curator for the Foggy Bottom Sculpture Biennial and twice as producer for the temporary public art program 5×5 in Washington, DC.

MacWilliams received her BA in Art History from George Washington University and an MA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Art Market Studies. She serves on the board of Washington Project for the Arts.
