Project Create names Deputy Director
Good Insight is thrilled to share that Project Create announced that artist and community advocate Nehemiah Dixon III joins their team as Deputy Director. In this senior management role, Nehemiah will work in close partnership with Executive Director Christie Walser to direct Project Create’s day-to-day operations, delivering creative youth development through accessible, multidisciplinary arts education.
Before joining Project Create, Nehemiah served as Senior Director for Community Engagement and Programming at The Phillips Collection, where he led the museum’s efforts to connect with diverse communities through innovative and inclusive programming. He oversaw Phillips@THEARC, an award-winning satellite space in Southeast Washington, DC, curating exhibitions, developing family and youth programs, and building strategic partnerships with local artists and organizations. Under his leadership, the museum expanded its reach to historically underserved communities and deepened its commitment to equity and access in the arts.
Nehemiah is also the founder of Nonstop Art LLC, a creative agency that integrates public art, community design, and cultural development. His initiatives include public installations, youth entrepreneurship programs, and the creation of makerspaces in affordable housing communities.
“Nehemiah brings an outstanding level of talent and experience to our work at Project Create,” said Christie. “I am thrilled to work alongside him as we propel healing, transformative art initiatives to youth and families in the District.”
As Deputy Director, Nehemiah will lead and mentor staff, implement Project Create’s strategic plans, manage budgets and facilities, and represent Project Create in events and partnerships that strengthen its leadership role in the arts education community.
“Throughout my career, I have utilized art for healing, empowerment, and long-term social transformation,” said Nehemiah. “I’m proud to now be a part of Project Create, which has such a rich history and a vital role to play in ensuring our youth have safe spaces to create, learn, and grow.”
Nehemiah advanced through an extensive national search led in partnership with Good Insight, an award-winning, Washington, DC-based executive search firm with an exclusive focus on nonprofits, associations, and foundations. He began his new role in June 2025.
