Genesys Works National Capital Region names new Development Director
We are thrilled to announce that Vinette Brown has joined Genesys Works National Capital Region as its next Development Director following a search conducted this spring by Carlyn Madden of Good Insight. She started her role at the end of June.
“We are glad to have Vinette join our Genesys Works team,” said Mioshi Moses, Executive Director of Genesys Works National Capital Region. “She possesses a unique combination of skills, experiences, and relationships that will help us grow our reach among corporate partners and individual donors throughout the region.”
“I’m excited to join Genesys Works in this important moment in time and I am looking forward to strengthening our fundraising capacity in the region to continue to serve more students through our incredible workforce development resources,” said Vinette. “This position is a natural extension of my professional experience and personal passions, and I’m eager to work alongside our team, corporations, schools, and youth to expand our reach.”
A devoted advocate for local youth, Vinette held several roles in local youth-serving nonprofits prior to Genesys Works, including as Development Director at City Kids Wilderness Project and Development Director for the Capital Region of College Summit (now Peer Forward). Following her tenure as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Haiti, Vinette worked in fundraising roles at prestigious international development nonprofits including Family Health International (FHI360), Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, and the Academy for Educational Development (AED) before moving to local nonprofits.
Vinette serves on the boards of Friends of Haiti and Perry Street Preparatory Charter School in Washington, DC and volunteers with the local nonprofits Reading Partners and Food & Friends, among others. She earned a B.A. in International Relations from Boston University, and a M.A. in International Development Studies, with concentrations Education and Development Management, from the George Washington University.
Please join us in welcoming Vinette to her new role!
